Zürich - Switzerland - 2002
The interiors of this villa on Lake Zurich represent an interesting compositional exercise for the objects designed by us, contextualized in this project by the strongly rationalist design.
The scale of the architecture is rather surprising, the villa in fact extends for roughly 1200 sqm across four floors; the underground floor with the gymnasium and the small private spa that lead to the technical rooms and garages, the ground floor directly facing out over the garden with the children’s rooms, a music room and the entire service area, the first floor with the living area and the kitchen, and the second floor with the master bedroom and studios.
The extension of the architectural project required some matching elements like the floor in large oak boards and doors and panel work in oak, light or dark grey; the distribution of the internal spaces instead, in respect of the rationalist tradition which inspired the project, has an open layout without dividing walls in the design and in the living area, connected to the study by a space twice as high; the main sleeping area connects the distributive function of the corridor to the dressing room and positions the rooms in a sequence, one next to the other, towards the lake.
