This project for an office building with retail on the ground floor is located in Neuer Wall, one of the most prominent shopping street in Hamburg, Germany.
The building occupies an infill lot measuring 13 by 30 meters with one façade facing an historic canal crossing the central portion of the city.
The built volume totals 12000 cubic meters.
There are two basement levels and eight floors above ground: two levels of retail, about 350 sq meters each, where maximum visual transparency has been achieved, and six floors of office space, for a total of 2100 sq meters, benefiting of natural light coming from a central courtyard. The street elevation is composed of an outer screen made of light grey stone panels and glass parapets protecting an inner layer of windows with wooden frames and shutters, used in the inner courtyard façade, too.
The setback on the two top floors is entirely framed with glass acting at night as a light signal at a more urban scale.
